Columnare Columnar Maple is a deciduous shade tree, prized for brilliant fall colour and a strong, shapely canopy. Columnare Columnar Maple flowers in spring in shades of red, and performs best in full sun with moderate watering once established. This narrow, upright tree matures to roughly 15-45 feet tall and 6-16 feet wide. It is ideal for front yards, boulevards, and open lawns where summer shade is wanted, offering long-term shade and strong seasonal colour. Well suited to the Canadian climate in zones 3-8, it establishes readily and improves with age. A layer of mulch helps hold moisture and keeps roots cool in summer.

  • 🪴 Planting Instructions: Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and no deeper, keeping the top of the root ball level with the surrounding soil. Loosen circling roots before planting, backfill with native soil amended with compost, then water thoroughly to settle. Space plants about 6-16 feet apart and keep well watered through the first full season while roots establish. Plant in full sun.
