Osage Orange is a deciduous shade tree, exceptionally durable and tolerant of harsh sites. Osage Orange flowers in spring in shades of orange, and performs best in full sun with moderate watering once established. This tree matures to roughly 30-50 feet tall and 25-40 feet wide. It is ideal as a specimen or shade tree on larger properties, where its canopy has room to develop, offering long-term shade and strong seasonal colour. Well suited to the Canadian climate in zones 4-9, it establishes readily and improves with age. A layer of mulch helps hold moisture and keeps roots cool in summer.

  • 🪴 Planting Instructions: Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and no deeper, keeping the top of the root ball level with the surrounding soil. Loosen circling roots before planting, backfill with native soil amended with compost, then water thoroughly to settle. Space plants about 25-40 feet apart and keep well watered through the first full season while roots establish. Plant in full sun.
  • 💧 Care & Watering: Water moderate: about 2.5 cm of water per week in the growing season.
